Smeetham Hall Barn is 16th century and has been tastefully converted into a stunning wedding venue for civil ceremonies and wedding receptions. Licensed for civil weddings and partnerships, our beautiful wedding venue and the picturesque grounds provide a breathtaking background for perfect formal wedding photographs.

We believe that your wedding day should be the most amazing day of your life and we want you to have everything as you think it should be. At Smeetham Hall you will encounter a relaxed, friendly atmosphere in a magnificent country setting.

When you decide to use the Barn for your wedding venue, the Barn will be available to you exclusively from Friday 9.00 am until Sunday 12 noon for a Saturday wedding. We feel very strongly that Smeetham Hall Barn is yours for longer than just one day to give you ample time to prepare for your special day.

Even though the Barn seats up to 150 guests, it can be arranged to suit any number from 30 upwards.

There is a fully equipped caterers' kitchen so you can be assured that whichever of our recommended wedding caterers you choose, they will have the facilities to provide you with a first class wedding feast.

Our wedding venue has full bar facilities for the evening with drinks charged at local pub prices and no charge for staff. If you prefer, you can supply your own drinks and we will not make a corkage charge, or, you can do both!

We have a bride and groom's room which has been set aside so you may change before your civil ceremony, or, indeed, change out of your wedding clothes before leaving for your honeymoon. Perhaps, more importantly, it allows the Bride and Groom a little privacy on their wedding day.

Smeetham Hall Barn benefits from an idyllic location in the heart of the Essex countryside, yet thanks to excellent transport links we are within easy reach of London, Hertfordshire, Suffolk and Kent.

Ample surfaced parking is available close to the Barn and Sudbury railway station is about 2 miles away from Smeetham.
